As a rule of thumb, you want to keep your shutter speed at least twice your focal length. For example, if you're shooting at 50mm length, you want your shutter speed to stay above 1/100.Jesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16600150713311340413noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-873524532996588019.post-40235551594241656812010-10-09T13:02:32.538-04:002010-10-09T13:02:32.538-04:00Becky, Thank you for your kind words! I very much appreciate you taking the time to do this and I love the end results! Maybe I can salvage a few more photos -- they really captured her essence! Thanks again! xoxoKathy Glynnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04041941881051576388noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-873524532996588019.post-64360263888259511092010-10-08T11:30:15.057-04:002010-10-08T11:30:15.057-04:00As a general rule, it's always better to raise...As a general rule, it's always better to raise the ISO instead of lower the shutter speed for proper exposure as you're losing light. A slow shutter will result in blur (as you've experienced), whereas high ISO will result in noise...a little noise is more forgiving than blur.

That being said, this photo can be improved on by using a couple of different filters. I did this using PS CS4. First, I duplicated the background layer and ran a high pass sharpen with a radius of 7 on that layer. I then set it to the overlay blending mode at about 70%, and masked out the background. Next, I again duplicated the background layer, but this time I ran a gaussian blur with a radius of 5, and masked out your daughter. Lastly, I added a color balance adjustment layer to pull up the yellow and pull down the blue some in the highlights channel.

http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc118/hmm1818/BG%20Stuff/ihf_const_feedback1.jpgHeidi Robertshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00459403920873345637noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-873524532996588019.post-77159390784053524952010-10-08T11:24:33.321-04:002010-10-08T11:24:33.321-04:00Mr. MBlatt1518 --- Thank you so much for your kind...Mr. MBlatt1518 --- Thank you so much for your kind words! :)Kathy Glynnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04041941881051576388noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-873524532996588019.post-49488554749469716652010-10-08T11:04:52.664-04:002010-10-08T11:04:52.664-04:00Terrific edited version of a lovely looking young ...Terrific edited version of a lovely looking young lady!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
